H-2014 Hanabishi Navy
Hana-Fukin Samplers
Hana-Fukin means ‘cloth for household use’ – covering fruit bowls / loaves of bread / bowls of rice /or using as teatowels / dishcloths / napkins – but they could now also be used as a cushion cover front / feature panels on bags / place mats or even stitch a number together to make a table runner….lots of possibilities!
All are printed on 100% cotton fabric with ‘wash away’ lines. Please do not iron the fabric before stitching the design or the lines could become permanent!
Traditionally the unprinted side is folded to the back of the printed side & the stitching is done through both layers – especially useful when stitching on light fabrics with darker threads. When stitching always leave a little slack when turning direction or moving across to another line – likewise leave a little loop on the back if you are stitching a long line stitches every so often – this all helps to reduce the puckering of the fabric.  Finish the raw edges if you haven’t already done so before washing the lines out in warm soapy water, rinse, and press on the wrong side when nearly dry.
Design size is approx. 34cm x 34cm but the fabric is 34cm x 67cm approx.
