This vibrant shade of metallic purple makes a statement. Said to represent royalty, spirituality, mystery and imagination it was historically an expensive and laborious colour to make. The piles of shells discarded during the manufacturing process were so large they have become geographical features along the eastern coast of the Mediterranean.
