Opening a Specialist Craft Shop based at Old Factory Corner just outside Richmond, near Nelson in the beautiful South Island of New Zealand is the culmination of a long held dream of Steve and Christine Hart – to showcase the stunning photography of Steve and the unique fibre work of Christine. “The place to go for that special something for that special someone – or even to treat yourself!”
Steve specialises in photographing birds and landscapes, and has a wonderful range of photo art – often photographing everyday scenes with a unique perspective.
Christine not only creates unique nuno felted scarves using blends of alpaca, merino & silk, as well as merino & silk, which she hand dyes along with a range of silk fibres, silk ribbons & silk threads. Christine designs a selection of kits, many of which include the Japanese 'slow' stitching technique of Sashiko & Boro - she tutors both Sashiko & Boro techniques in our lovely light & bright classroom next to Quiltz 'n' More, which is also where our Quilting classes are tutored by Trudy.
We bought the long established Quilt Shop behind us in 2020 (in the middle of a global pandemic...at our age....), & stock a beautiful range of quilting fabrics, along with Creative Grids Rulers & other associated quilting notions. Sashiko supplies, Ashford equipment, fibres & yarns for spinning, weaving & felting, knitting yarns, patterns & needles, DMC 6 stranded Embroidery Threads, Cottage Garden Hand Dyed Threads, Jacquard Dyes & an eclectic range of buttons are some of the ingredients in the mix!
