First sample is Ajisazashi or Hydrangea Stitch - really easy & includes the needle weaving technique (one of my favourite Sashiko stitches)

Second sample to be covered is a Komezashi / Rice Stitch variation - again really easy - but so effective! Hitomezashi Sashiko Class (also known as One Stitch Sashiko) Saturday 24th July this class is suitable for beginners, and those who want to explore Sashiko further. 10am start - prompt – 4pm approx. finish. Tutor - Christine Hart Maximum of 10 students Kit included in the cost of the workshop – $49 2 different projects will be stitched in this class – kit includes Pack of 2 Sashiko Needles, Dot Grid Fabric & all the threads needed to complete the patterns. Students will be given a brief history of Sashiko & Boro Stitching, before learning how to deal with the skeins of Sashiko Threads (especially useful for the 100mt skeins!) How to stitch Sashiko economically, so as not to waste too much thread, plus lots of other tips and tricks to stitch your work and what to turn it into afterwards. Final finishing off will need to be completed at home due to time constraints. Bring a basic sewing kit with you (needles / pins / scissors). Boro Inspired Purse Stitching Class 31st July this class is suitable for beginners, and those who want to explore Sashiko further.

10am start - prompt – 4pm approx. finish. Tutor - Christine Hart Maximum of 10 students Kit included in the cost of the workshop – $49 All fabrics, Sashiko thread, and 2 Sashiko needles will be included in your kit to stitch the small purse pictured. Along with the traditional Flower decoration for the zip pull. Final construction will have to be completed later due to time constraints. (Zip will be inserted - ready for your Boro Stitching). Students will be given a brief history of Sashiko & Boro Stitching, before learning how to deal with the skeins of Sashiko Threads (especially useful for the 100mt skeins!) Quilting Basics Class 3rd July
Do you have questions about quilting techniques? Maybe …what rulers to use? Why Rotary Cutters instead of scissors? How to stitch the perfect binding? Maybe you feel a refresher class would help improve your quilting skills – or learn some new ones!
Tutor – Stephanie Percival 10am start - prompt – 4pm approx. finish. Maximum of 8 students Come along and start your quilting journey – this one day workshop is where you can learn the basics to then confidently make that heirloom quilt you have always wished you had the skills to do. This class will cover materials, general quilting terms, construction techniques and give you a chance to ask those curly questions. Kit included in the cost of the class fee - $49 Sewing machine in good working order is needed for this course, plus – a walking foot or embroidery foot would be useful, but not absolutely essential. Your usual sewing requisites: scissors / safety pins / sewing pins etc.
2 Sewing machines are available to borrow for the quilting workshops, no charge but do need to book in advance.
